Tyre McCants would not be denied.

With the AAC East title on the line in the War on I-4, McCants, a junior receiver for South Florida, put forth an outstanding effort to open the scoring against rival Central Florida.

McCants took a quick pass from quarterback Quinton Flowers, broke through a line of blockers and took off into the secondary. The only thing between McCants and the end zone was UCF linebacker Chequan Burkett. It did not go well for Burkett.

Burkett first got a hand on McCants between the 20 and 25-yard line, but McCants was still able to make it into the end zone.

What an effort.

McCants and USF (9-1, 6-1) were looking to spoil rival UCF’s (10-0, 7-0) quest for an undefeated season, but the Knights prevailed 49-42 in a wild game. UCF will now meet Memphis in the AAC title game next week. A trip to a New Year’s Six bowl will likely be on the line in that one.
