Light rain/snow showers this evening, steady snow Friday night

EVENING: Light rain showers, temps in the upper 30s.

TONIGHT: Clearing skies, gusty at times. Northwest winds 10-20mph. Low 31.

THURSDAY: Sunny to start and breezy. Clouds increase toward evening. High 40.

A quick moving system is bringing some brief, light rain showers through the area this evening. Areas north of Harrisburg could see some wet snowflakes, but accumulation is not expected this evening. Skies clear quickly overnight with winds increasing 10-20mph. Friday also looks breezy but with more sunshine. Highs will be around 40° to close out the work week.

Clouds will increase Friday evening as another clipper tracks toward Central PA. This system does not appear to have quite the punch or amount of moisture as Tuesday morning’s storm, but will still bring more snow to the region. The latest model data shows light snow developing overnight Friday and lasting into Saturday morning. The clipper exits around daybreak Saturday morning and will leave behind 2-4″ of powdery snow. Here is the timeline of the storm:

After a weeklong stretch of wintry weather, mild air returns early next week with highs in the 40s and perhaps nearing 50°. It looks like a quiet stretch next week too.
