USA Today: Grand Rapids No. 1 beer city

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — USA Today has released the winners of 10 beer-related categories across the United States, and one West Michigan city made the list.

Grand Rapids was named the number-one beer city in the U.S. USA Today said that Grand Rapids “sports the state’s strongest beer scene, thanks largely to the presence of the world-renowned Founders Brewing Co. Not to be outdone, there are several other brewing operations around town, most notably the Belgian-inspired Brewery Vivant.”

It also referenced the city’s Beer City Ale Trail which covers over 80 breweries in the area as well as the many beer festivals, events and promotions in the area.

The categories like best beer bar, best beer festival, best beer label and more were nominated by beer experts, according to USA Today. Readers then voted for their favorite for each category.
