US in talks with Turkey to triple ammunition production — report
The United States is negotiating with Turkey to buy more explosives needed to potentially triple its production of artillery shells, Bloomberg reported on March 27.
Citing officials familiar with the matter, the journalists say that the supplies of trinitrotoluene (TNT) and nitroguanidine — a propellant — from Turkey are pivotal for the manufacturing of 155mm caliber munitions.

As 155mm artillery rounds remain Ukraine’s most pressing military need, Kyiv’s Western partners are scrambling to drastically ramp up their production. With additional TNT supply from Turkey, Washington officials hope to triple domestic munitions manufacturing.

On Feb. 6, U.S. Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition Doug Bush said that the United States aims to double artillery shell production by October.
