US Steel names COO Mario Longhi as president

US Steel names Chief Operating Officer Mario Longhi to additional role of president

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- United States Steel Corp. has named Chief Operating Officer Mario Longhi to the additional role of president.

Longhi, who will now assume additional responsibility for human resources and risk management, will take on the position on Saturday.

Longhi has worked at United States Steel since July, coming on board as executive vice president and COO.

Last month United States Steel reported a first-quarter loss due to tough competition and rising prices.

The Pittsburgh company's stock added 23 cents to $18.28 in afternoon trading.
