Urijah Faber Expected to Return at UFC 156

Urijah Faber Announces Retirement

Former WEC champion Urijah Faber has been on the sidelines since UFC 149, but it looks like he is marked for a return at UFC 156 on Feb. 2 in Las Vegas.

UFC Tonight reported on Tuesday night that Faber has been targeted for a return on Super Bowl weekend.

Faber last saw action at UFC 149 in Calgary in July. He failed in his bid to capture the interim UFC bantamweight championship. That honor instead was bestowed upon his opponent, Renan Barão.

Not only did he lose the fight, however, but he also suffered a rib injury in the process.

Faber is currently in China promotion the UFC’s first event there, but should his rehab stay on track and pending a doctor’s clearance, he will return at UFC 156.

No opponent has yet been targeted for Faber’s return to the Octagon.

A featherweight title bout pitting champion Jose Aldo against Frankie Edgar headlines UFC 156.
