Urgent demand for O-type blood at Houchin Blood Bank

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Houchin Community Blood Bank is experiencing a critical demand for blood this week.

Houchin is asking Kern residents to help increase their supply and prepare for the high demand of blood that comes during the Memorial Day weekend, according to Houchin.

Kern County in-home care providers vote overwhelmingly in favor of new contract with county, waits for Board of Supervisors to certify

Monday, May 20 through Saturday, all successful O-type donors will receive a $15 digital gift card for contributing to the cause.

The global spend management sector is experiencing a tailwind of sorts. Indeed, the space is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10.3% by 2030, per Grand View Research, and adoption in other regions like the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is expected to pick up as companies increasingly adopt expense management tools to get a clearer picture of where their money is going. Saudi Arabia-based Simplified Financial Solutions Company (SiFi), one such spend management platform in the MENA region, has now raised $10 million in a seed funding round to double down on its growth plans in its home market.

X (formerly Twitter) has long had many active NSFW (not safe for work) communities, and though the social network unofficially allowed people to post adult content, its rules have never forbidden or allowed such content outright. Over the weekend, X added clauses to its rules, formally allowing users to post adult and graphic content on the platform — with a few caveats. Users can now post consensually-produced NSFW content as long as it is prominently labeled as such.

Spotify has announced it's hiking subscriptions for customers in the U.S., the second such price increase in the space of a year. The music-streaming giant reports that premium pricing will increase in July from $10.99 to $11.99, representing a rise of nearly 10%.
