Urgent care worker watched woman during urine test, PA cops say. Now he’s charged

An urgent care worker is accused of violating two women during procedures he was neither licensed nor permitted to perform, Pennsylvania police said.

On March 1, a woman told police she visited Carbon Health Urgent Care in Jenkintown for a drug screening where she was informed by a worker named Ramon that she was “randomly selected to ’be observed,’” according to a March 11 news release from the Abington Police Department.

After he watched her urinate in a cup, the worker, later identified as Ramon Garcia, gave the patient his number and “asked if she would go on date with him,” police said.

During the investigation of the incident, a second woman filed a report with Abington police about her experience with Garcia, authorities said.

The second victim told authorities she was at Carbon Health Urgent Care on March 9 when Garcia identified himself as a nurse and brought her to an examination room, police said.

Gracia told the woman to undress and conducted a pelvic exam, according to police.

During the examination, Garcia helped the victim remove her pants a second time and started touching her and “moved his head toward her pelvic area,” police said. The woman said “no” and got dressed, authorities said.

Garcia asked the woman if she was in a relationship and if she had fantasies, and he gave her his phone number before she left, authorities said.

Garcia was employed as a medical assistant and his job description included “signing in patients, taking vital signs, and if directed by a physician, to take blood samples,” police said.

“Garcia was not trained, instructed, nor permitted to conduct examinations or observe urine sample tests such as those that were reported by these victims,” police said. “Garcia is not a licensed nurse.”

McClatchy News reached out to Carbon Health Urgent Care for comment March 12 but did not receive an immediate response.

Garcia was arrested March 11 and charged with aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and two counts of invasion of privacy.

Police said they are investigating whether there are additional victims.

Garcia worked at the Abington Township location since July 2023, and he may have previously worked at other Carbon Health Urgent Care facilities, including ones in Montgomery Township and Dresher.

Anyone with information or who believes they may have been a victim of Garcia is asked to call Detective Jeff Anderson at 267-536-1102.

Abington Township is in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
