Urbana Dual Language School chosen in 4-3 vote

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — The Urbana School District has officially filled its board vacancy and decided on a redistricting plan.

Parents and teachers filled Tuesday night’s meeting in hopes of persuading the board to hold off on the decision to close one school. Both Thomas Paine and Yankee Ridge were options for the new home of a dual language program.

New board member Jennifer Hixson also asked the board to extend the decision time so she can get up to speed. The superintendent says she attended every board meeting to have the information.

The board voted Yankee Ridge as the new dual language home with a 4-3 vote.
