UPS driver recites holiday poem on video after homeowner leaves snacks: 'Your kindness shines'

A UPS driver recited a sweet poem for a homeowner who left him snacks, caught on her Ring home camera.

Michele Rothstein, a speech pathologist for a local school district in Buckingham, Penn., shared the Ring footage on Twitter Wednesday after it was found by her daughter. While on camera, the unnamed driver sets a box down on Rothstein’s doorstep, where she keeps a box of water and packaged cookies, candy, and pretzels for delivery drivers.

Rothstein tells Yahoo Lifestyle the treats are a “small” gesture for the hard work and long hours required of delivery professionals. While tweeting the footage, the mom wrote, “My house. #kindnesscounts. Make someone @UPS smile with a sweet treat. Take care of those who do for you. Best @ring video we’ve had!”

The driver is seen pulling out a set of pre-written flashcards. “These Christmas days as we drive,” he says aloud, holding up each card to the camera. “Working more than 9-5. Legs are sore and oh, my feet,” he continues. “But your kindness shines with these little treats. Happy holidays from UPS.”

Rothstein tells Yahoo Lifestyle that this was the driver’s second trip to her home that week. The first time, he had pocketed a snack before saying, “Thank you” into the camera.

“This time, he came prepared,” she says.

A spokesperson from UPS tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “Our employees across the country are working hard to deliver the holidays, and these thoughtful snacks and treats from our customers are greatly appreciated. It’s like leaving milk and cookies for Santa and his elves on Christmas Eve, except it’s drivers (and helpers) in brown making deliveries.” The spokesperson added that the driver was not available for comment.

“If you can make someone feel special, it’s worth it any day of the year,” Rothstein tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “But especially during the holidays.”
