UPS driver delivers iPad — then signs for it and steals it, California video shows

She may have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for the surveillance footage.

Piedmont police were called in for a package theft report on Dec. 17. The resident said an Apple IPad was scheduled for delivery that day, according to a police press release.

Video footage showed that a UPS driver delivered the package, signed for it, and then took what was inside.

Three minutes later, the resident of the home went outside to get the package and found that it was empty.

Officers arrested Unyque Marie Alley, a 40-year-old UPS worker from Oakland, California on Dec. 19.

Alley was an “aide,” a seasonal worker hired by UPS to help with deliveries, Capt. Chris Monahan of the Piedmont Police Department told KTVU/Fox 2. “There’s a driver on the truck and then there’s an aide with them.”

Alley was booked into Berkeley Jail for petty theft, according to the release.
