UPMC teaching lifesaving skills to Somerset community

SOMERSET ― UPMC Somerset, UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Twin Lakes, Somerset Single County Authority for Drug and Alcohol and the Somerset Area Ambulance Association are partnering to offer a free Minutes Matter training event.

It will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the main station of the Somerset Ambulance Association, at 115 Wood Duck Road, Somerset.

UPMC launched Minutes Matter to provide the Somerset County community members with access to basic emergency information and education about life-saving interventions.

This free program is open to any community member. No registration is required.

The Minutes Matter training event will feature:

  • Hands-only CPR training provided by the Somerset Ambulance Association

  • Narcan training and distribution provided by UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Twin Lakes and the Somerset Single County Authority

  • Stop the Bleed training

  • Information about mental health

  • Use of AED training

  • General information about UPMC Somerset

In an emergency, minutes matter. Even the most basic knowledge can save lives and improve outcomes.
