Upcoming fundraisers to support graduating seniors

Apr. 1—Madison Central High School's Project Graduation has raised $18,000 so far, and fundraising team members are turning to the community for additional support.

Lynn Hall, a member of the fundraising committee for Madison Central High School's 2024 Project Graduation, is excited to announce this year's festivities.

Project Graduation will take place at Eastern Kentucky University following Madison Central's graduation ceremony on May 23.

The primary objective of Project Graduation is to provide a safe and enjoyable night for high school seniors.

To achieve this goal, the committee is seeking $30,000 to cover upfront costs and provide additional funds as gifts for the attending seniors.

Hall explained that every senior has the chance to win cash prizes throughout the night. Seniors and their families have been actively fundraising throughout the school year, with each volunteering opportunity earning them entries into the prize drawings.

As Hall put it, "The more they volunteer, the more chances they have to win."

These winnings can serve as a helpful boost as seniors embark on their post-graduation journeys.

According to Hall's daughter, Lyndsay, Project Graduation is a cherished time to celebrate achievements with friends.

"We get to celebrate our accomplishments before planning our futures, which may lead us in different directions. It's also an opportunity to win money to help with upcoming college costs," Lyndsay remarked.

To make this event a success and support graduating seniors, Hall is calling on the community to lend a hand.

With several fundraisers in the works, there are ample opportunities for businesses, families, and community members to contribute.

One upcoming event is a comedy night on April 13 at the American Legion, featuring two comedians and a taco bar dinner from El Charro Texano Tacos and Taps. Single tickets are $35 each, but couples can get in for $60.

Additionally, there will be an Inflatables and Foam Party on April 9 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Robinson & Turley, which is across from Madison Central.

For those looking for a more unique way to support the cause, the fundraising group is offering the opportunity to "flock" someone's yard with comical lawn decorations and signs in exchange for a donation. This fun initiative will continue until May 18.
