In its endeavour to thrill car fans further, the German automaker BMW was spotted testing the upcoming Z5 roadster. The new model is expected to come as a replacement to the Z4 model. The upcoming BMW Z5 roadster will compete against the likes of Porsche 718 Boxter and Boxter S.

Under the hood, we anticipate that the BMW Z5 will be offered with two engine options. The entry-level variant likely to be called the sDrive30i, might get a new B48 2.0-litre turbocharged four cylinder engine which is expected to generate 295bhp of power. The top-end variant likely to be called the M40i, might get the new B58 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine that generates around 345bhp of power. Both the cars will be rear-wheel powered.

On the design aspect, the upcoming BMW Z5 roadster will get a power-folding soft top instead of a folding metal roof which adds to the weight. As seen in images, the new Z5 is likely to ditch the kidney grille design for a new rectangular shaped grille. The test mule sported 10-spoke blackened alloys that completes its roadster design. More details about the car will be known in the coming days.
