Unresponsive student found in hallway. Ky. student charged with selling marijuana vape pen

After an unresponsive student was found in a school hallway Friday, an 18-year-old Wayne County High School student was arrested for allegedly selling a vape pen containing marijuana.

Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron described the situation in a Facebook post Saturday.

Alexander Davalos, of Somerset, was charged with unlawful transaction with a minor—2nd degree, which is a felony, and trafficking in marijuana (less than eight ounces), a misdemeanor, he said.

Wayne County Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to the Wayne County High School Area Technology Center to help an unresponsive student who was later transported to the hospital for treatment, Catron said.

The unresponsive student was found in a hallway and was treated by the school nurse before EMS arrived on the scene.

A second student came to the school nurse feeling sick.

An investigation revealed that a student from Somerset at that school “had sold a vape pen containing THC (marijuana) earlier that morning,” Catron said.

One student admitted to having purchased the vape pen from the accused student with another student admitting to observing that purchase. Two other students also admitted to smoking the same vape pen.

One of them said he was feeling sick but did not need to be treated.

Davalos was taken to the Wayne County Detention Center.
