Unplanned outage at Oregon DMV impacts license renewals

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – If you were planning on getting your Oregon driver’s license renewed Tuesday, you may want to reschedule.

The Oregon DMV system went down Monday and it remains unclear how long the outage will last, according to DMV spokesperson Michelle D. Godfrey.

“DMV is not able to process credential issuances in our field offices whether they require a photo or not,” Godfrey said. “This will affect individuals who are seeking to obtain a driver’s license or ID today.”

However, the DMV will be able to issue 30-day permits for anyone with an expired license and process all vehicle transactions.

The cause of the outage remains unknown.

“We are working with our vendor to identify the cause of the system outage,” Godfrey said. “We don’t have an estimate yet on when the issue will be resolved.”
