UNO survey estimates Super Bowl impact at $480M for New Orleans area

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- A study done at the University of New Orleans estimates that Super Bowl-related spending in the New Orleans area this year totaled $480 million.

The study, released Thursday, says that includes nearly $263 million in spending directly related to the game and an estimated $217 million in secondary spending.

The figures are based on a survey by UNO's Division of Business and Economic Research conducted for the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee. The division designed the survey and the host committee conducted the surveys Jan. 30 through game day, Feb. 3.
