University of Georgia celebrates Class of 2024

May 14—ATHENS — The University of Georgia celebrated more than 8,000 candidates for graduation in the Class of 2024 during commencement ceremonies last week. The spring undergraduate ceremony took place 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, in Sanford Stadium. The spring graduate ceremony was held in two sessions on Thursday, May 9, with the master's/specialist ceremony starting at 10 a.m. and the doctoral ceremony starting at 2 p.m. in Stegeman Coliseum.

Moultrie-area students who were scheduled to graduate included:

— Austin Counts, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a BSCHEM Chemistry.

— Anna Strange, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a BBA Marketing.

— Amelia Clark, of Ochlocknee, was a candidate for a BSED Special Education.

— Anna Weldon, of Omega, was a candidate for a MSW Social Work.

— Catherine Durrence, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a BSED Communication Sciences and Disorders.

— Carson Radney, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a MAT Workforce Education.

— Charles Glenn, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a BBA Economics.

— Hannah Hood, of Pavo, was a candidate for a BSA Biological Science.

— Heaven Robinson, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a MA Journalism and Mass Communication.

— Juliana Perry, of Norman Park, was a candidate for a BSFCS Family and Consumer Science Education.

— Jonathan Florencio, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a BBA Risk Management and Insurance.

— Kirk Beacham, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a BSA Agricultural Communication.

— Lana Davis, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a BSED Elementary Education.

— Olivia Chatman, of Doerun, was a candidate for a BS Psychology.

— Riya Patel, of Sale City, was a candidate for a BS Biology and BS Psychology and BS Biomedical Physiology.

— Vaidehi Patel, of Moultrie, was a candidate for a BS Biochem and Molecular Biology and BS Biomedical Physiology and BS Biology.

— William Hopper, of Ochlocknee, was a candidate for a BBA Management Information Systems.

Allison Schmitt, one of the most decorated American athletes of all time and a University of Georgia alumna, delivered the spring undergraduate commencement address. Jenna Jambeck, the 2024 SEC Professor of the Year and Georgia Athletic Association Distinguished Professor of Environmental Engineering at UGA, delivered the graduate commencement address.
