University of Cincinnati student shot and killed after confronting men breaking into his car
A 21-year-old man is dead after a shooting in Mount Auburn early Saturday morning, Cincinnati police said. At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the 2000 block of Highland Avenue near Dorchester Avenue. Upon arrival they found Benjamin Addison shot outside of a vehicle, police said. Addison's mother, Yeshi Leggesse, told WCPO 9 this is her worst nightmare. Addison, who was a junior at UC in the college of business, was Leggesse's only child. She says he was out with friends the night of the shooting and parked his car on Highland Street. He thought he left his headlights on, so he went back to the car with his friend, where they found two guys trying to break into the vehicle, Leggesse said. When the two asked the man on the driver's side to get out, she said they didn't see the other man in the passenger side, who then shot her son.
