Universal Studios Hollywood is gearing up to celebrate 60 years of its Studio Tour with new and returning experiences for guests to enjoy, the park announced Tuesday.
In 1964, Universal Studios invited guests to board red and white Glamor Trams as they took a two-hour journey to see moviemaking magic behind the scenes. In celebration of the Studio Tour’s 60th anniversary, Universal is bringing back the Glamor Tram design for its Studio Tour trams.
Guests will also be able to stop mid-tour to experience photo ops which celebrate the lot’s history.
Visitors will be able to see an original, fully restored 1964 vintage Glamor Tram, the first-ever original replica of the Hollywood Sign to be situated along the backlot, the theme park’s original hanging Jaws shark, a King Kong themed- photo backdrop and more.
Sights on the 60th anniversary Studio Tour will also include an original time machine picture car from Back to the Future on Courthouse Square, where the movie was filmed, a dimensional Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur display and the return of Earthquake — The Big One, which has been upgraded with new show technology.
The tram monitors will also take guests on a journey down memory lane as it showcases clips from former Studio Tour attractions. The Studio Tour’s 1976 Runaway Train attraction will also make a temporary appearance during the event.
The Studio Tour’s 60th anniversary expands beyond the tour itself with new food and merchandise available throughout the park.
New barbecue sandwiches will be available at Hollywood & Dine, Mel’s Diner will have a TV dinner-inspired meatloaf combo and fried chicken combo meals and ice cream novelties honoring park attractions will be at Studio Scoops.
Guests can also pick up 60th anniversary Glamor Tram popcorn bucket and apparel, pillows, keychains and more souvenirs inspired by the iconic tram.

A consumer-grade spyware app has been found running on the check-in systems of at least three Wyndham hotels across the United States, TechCrunch has learned. The app, called pcTattletale, stealthily and continually captured screenshots of the hotel booking systems, which contained guest details and customer information. Thanks to a security flaw in the spyware, these screenshots are available to anyone on the internet, not just the spyware's intended users.
