United Way launches Bucks Knocks Out Hunger for 2024. How to help

Food insecurity continues to plague Bucks County families, as more than 45,000 residents are unsure of where their next meal is coming from.

The United Way of Bucks County is again working to ease the stress of those families through its annual "Bucks Knocks Out Hunger" campaign, and this year's drive features a unique twist: support the anti-hunger campaign by not attending any fundraiser dinners.

The "Bucks Knocks Out Hunger (Non) Event Kickoff" will begin on Wednesday, May 29.

Forgo eating at fundraiser, donate costs to 'Bucks Knocks Out Hunger' instead

Typically, the United Way of Bucks County would hold a fundraiser dinner to support the Bucks Knocks Out Hunger campaign. For this year, the nonprofit is requesting that people skip the fundraising dinner altogether, and instead donate the per-plate costs to the anti-hunger campaign.

"There’s no need to dress up, fight traffic, or find a babysitter when you attend a non-event,” said United Way of Bucks County's president and CEO Marissa Christie in statement announcing this year's effort. "Instead, on the day of the non-event, participants can do what makes them happiest — and know that their donation is helping local families access nutritious food."
