United Airlines to pay $100 bonuses to employees

CHICAGO (AP) — United Airlines says it will pay $100 bonuses to employees after recording its best on-time performance of this year in November.

The airline said Monday that 85.5 percent of its domestic flights and 81.2 percent of international flights arrived within 14 minutes of the scheduled time last month.

United, the world's biggest airline, said that its performance for a 10-day period including Thanksgiving was the second-best in the past five years despite full planes.

United Continental Holdings Inc. has struggled with its computer reservations system since combining United and Continental and has often been near the bottom among major U.S. airlines for on-time performance in recent weeks.

On Sunday, for example, 78.4 percent of United's flights arrived within 14 minutes of the scheduled time. Delta, US Airways, Southwest, American and JetBlue all had better marks, although American and JetBlue were also below 80 percent, according to tracking service FlightStats.

Shares of United Continental fell 37 cents to $19.85 in midday trading.
