United Airlines Passenger Gets Stung By A Scorpion Mid-Flight
United Airlines is in hot water again after a passenger was stung by a scorpion on a flight from Houston to Calgary.

CNN reports Richard Bell just enjoyed a pleasant vacation with his wife Linda Bell in Mexico when the two were returning back to Canada on Sunday (April 9). As Bell ate lunch in business class, he felt the eight-legged passenger hit his head before falling on his tray. As he tried to knock the scorpion in the aisle, he was stung on his finger. “My husband felt something in his hair. As he was grabbing it by the tail it stung him,” his wife Linda said. Other passengers panicked, in fear that the scorpion was poisonous. The couple did the same while looking up information on their new unwelcome friend. “I was just sitting with anxiety – with my legs up, of course – looking around,” she told Global News.
After a few freak outs, a flight attendant reportedly stomped on the scorpion and tossed into the airplane toilet. Before meeting medical personnel in Calgary, another passenger gave Richard Benadryl just incase he faced any allergic reactions from the scorpion. While Richard and Linda have been vocal about the potentially dangerous experience, the incident happened to occur on the same day a passenger was dragged out of a flight traveling from Chicago to Louisville.
United released a statement about the Calgary incident, confirming it wasn’t life-threatening. “Our flight attendants helped a customer who was stung by what appeared to be a scorpion on a flight last week. Our crew immediately consulted with a MedLink physician on the ground who provided guidance throughout the incident and assured our crew that it was not a life-threatening matter.”
The Bells told reporters they have been contacted by United with assurance of compensation for Richard’s ticket. He doesn’t seem to be too bothered by the incident, telling the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, “It’s just one of those things that happens, right?” Bell beleives the scorpion was inside the guitar case belonging to another passenger returning from Guatemala or Honduras.
