Union holds first graduation since moving into former Remco building

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A local union is graduating its first group of trainees since taking over an abandoned building in downtown Albuquerque. Earlier this year, UA Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 412 moved into the Remco Bolt property at Third and Mountain.

15 trainees completed the pre-apprenticeship program making it the union’s largest class since it began last year. They will now work with contractors for the next phase of the program.

The union said it had outgrown the previous facility so it least the Remco building from the city for five years and renovated it to serve their needs. The seven-week program is designed for those in court diversion and jail re-entry programs.
