Union duo jailed on million-dollar bonds for drug trafficking, guns; had children in home

UNION COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Union County Sheriff deputies said on Friday that two accused drug traffickers are in the Union County Detention Center on million-dollar bonds.

Deputies say 25-year-old Hateem Jaaber and 27-year-old Aleigha Pendry of Monroe face several charges as part of another extensive UCSO narcotics investigation. During the investigation, narcotics detectives and deputies conducted a search warrant at Pendry’s home in the 1800 block of Ruben Road and seized trafficking quantities of various narcotics along with a stolen firearm and other stolen goods.

Jaaber and Pendry were both arrested and processed into the Union County Detention Center last month.

Jaaber, jailed with a $2.5 million bond, is facing eight felonies and two misdemeanors, including:

  • Felony trafficking in Opium/Heroin (four counts)

  • Felony trafficking in Cocaine

  • Felony possession of firearm by felon

  • Felony possession of stolen firearm

  • Felony possession of stolen goods

  • Felony alter or remove serial number

  • Felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances

  • Felony possession of Schedule I controlled substance

  • Misdemeanor possession of Marijuana up to ½ ounce

  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia

Pendry, jailed with a $1 million bond, is facing seven felonies and three misdemeanors:

  • Misdemeanor child abuse

  • Felony possession of stolen firearm

  • Felony possession of stolen goods

  • Felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances

  • Felony trafficking in Opium/Heroin (two counts)

  • Felony trafficking in cocaine

  • Felony possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance

  • Misdemeanor possession of Marijuana up to ½ ounce

  • Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia

Officials found a “pill press”, which indicated that Jaaber and Pendry were in the early stages of manufacturing “street pressed” pills containing illicit fentanyl.

Detectives also learned the operations took place in the presence of minor children at the home.
