Union County Historical Society to discuss settling the West Branch Valley

May 15—LEWISBURG — The Union County Historical Society will host the program "Settling the West Branch Valley" by Dr. Michael Brown on June 8 at 1 p.m., in the UCHS Gallery at 15 N. Water St. in Lewisburg.

Dr. Brown's talk will focus on the early settlement of the West Branch Valley by following the lives of three prominent residents: Capt. John Brady, Capt. John Boyd, and Samuel Wallis — through the American Revolution and beyond, including tales of danger, courage and treachery. A display will include their guns, documents signed by them, and other accoutrements from that time.

The program is free and open to the public.

For more information, contact the UCHS office at 570-524-8666 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
