Unidentified man found fatally wounded in stairway in Chatham

A young man was found fatally wounded around midnight Tuesday in the stairway of a building in the Chatham neighborhood, Chicago police said.

About midnight Tuesday, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 7900 block of South Rhodes Avenue, and found a victim shot multiple times to the body, Chicago police said.

The unidentified victim was discovered in the rear stairway of an apartment complex and was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was described as between 18 to 25 years of age, police said.

No one was in custody for the deadly attack, and detectives were investigating.
