Unhoused camp cleanup

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Mesa County Sheriff’s Department cleaned up and cleaned out an unhoused camp off Dike Road Wednesday morning. Deputies cleared out about 10 to 15 people that have been there for an extended period of time.

Last week, deputies gave the people at the camp 72 hours to move, which turned into a week. Those who hadn’t moved by Wednesday morning were forced to evacuate the premises.

The Sheriff’s department had behavioral health officials on-site to offer resources like food, water, transportation or whatever else the unhoused may have needed at the time.
