'Unfinished business': Jacy Sheldon to return to Ohio State women's basketball in 2023-24

Jacy Sheldon has unfinished business at Ohio State.

After four seasons with the Buckeyes, Sheldon announced Wednesday she would be back for a fifth season in 2023-24.

"I love being a Buckeye and I can't wait to run it back with my teammates," Sheldon wrote in a tweet. "See you next year Buckeye Nation."

Sheldon, a Dublin Coffman graduate, was limited to 13 games during the Buckeyes' 2022-23 season because of a foot injury. She returned for the Big Ten Tournament, playing limited minutes in wins against Michigan and Indiana and Ohio State's tournament final loss to Iowa.

By the start of the NCAA Tournament, Sheldon was a full go, averaging 17.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and five assists per game, shooting 40% from the field.

Sheldon helped lead Ohio State to the Elite Eight, ending Connecticut's streak of Final Four appearances with a win against the Huskies in the Sweet 16.

in four seasons for Ohio State, Sheldon has averaged 14.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game, starting 86 times in 98 games.

Sheldon is set to return along with forward Cotie McMahon, who took home the Big Ten's Freshman of the Year award in 2022, and forward Taylor Thierry, forward Emma Shumate, guard Kaitlyn Costner and guard Kaia Henderson.

Fifth-year guard Taylor Mikesell will not return for Ohio State in 2023-24.
