Start your week in North Carolina politics with our latest Under the Dome podcast, for the week of March 4, 2024. Dawn Vaughan here, your podcast host and state Capitol bureau chief. I’m joined by my fellow politics reporters Avi Bajpai and Kyle Ingram.

We are just one day away from the North Carolina primary on March 5, which is also Super Tuesday, meaning there are primaries in several other states, too. Two Republican presidential candidates, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and former President Donald Trump, had events over the weekend in North Carolina, and Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, was in Durham on Friday as we recorded this latest episode.

On the podcast, we discuss the latest fundraising numbers for the gubernatorial primary front-runners, Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein and Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, and what they mean for the general election. We also talk about the primary for attorney general, and looks ahead to the probable candidates for the general election in that race as well as lieutenant governor. Plus legislative primary races to watch.

Headliner of the Week

Stay tuned to the end for our picks for Headliner of the Week. Mine is election and food-related, and so is Bajpai’s. Ingram weighs in with a movie headliner.
