UNC Health Caldwell Announces New Chief Medical Officer

Mar. 26—LENOIR — Dr. Sarah Young has been selected as the new chief medical officer at UNC Health Caldwell after a national search, according to a press release from UNC Health Caldwell.

Young currently cares for patients as a Hospitalist Physician at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Dr. Sarah Young has been a physician at UNC Health Caldwell since 2017 and has almost 20 years of experience in patient care, according to the press release.

Young obtained a medical degree from Upstate Medical University at the State University of New York and a bachelor of science in biology from State University of New York at Fredonia. She completed an Internal Medicine residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She is also a recipient of the George Hancock Award for Excellence in Patient Care, according to the press release.

Her time at UNC Health Caldwell has proven Young's dedication to her patients, fellow providers and team members. She was selected as the next chief medical officer following a nation-wide search by a committee composed of UNC Health Caldwell team members, representatives of the Caldwell Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and UNC Health System leaders, according to the press release.
