CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) – UNC senior guard RJ Davis was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Player of the Year Monday, just days after the Tar Heels (25-6, 17-3 ACC) won the league regular-season crown.

Davis was the overwhelming pick from the league’s voting panel, earning the nod on 68 of 75 ballots. The White Plains, N.Y., native is averaging a league-leading 21.1 points per game this season as well as 3.6 assists per game, which is 11th in the league.

Meanwhile, UNC’s Hubert Davis earned ACC Coach of the Year honors, landing 49 votes to out-pace Pittsburgh’s Jeff Capel, who had 12.

Davis is the Tar Heels’ first ACC Player of the Year since 2017, when Justin Jackson claimed the honors. UNC also won the national championship that year.

Rounding out the All-ACC first team were Clemson forward PJ Hall, Duke big man Kyle Filipowski, Wake Forest guard Hunter Sallis and Pitt forward Blake Hinson.

The 2023-24 All-ACC Team was determined by a 75-member panel consisting of the league’s 15 head coaches and 60 members of the media.

Virginia’s Reece Beekman notched ACC Defensive Player of the Year laurels for the second straight season, while Notre Dame’s Markus Burton earned ACC Rookie of Year honors. Clemson’s Ian Schieffelin claimed the ACC’s Most Improved Player, while Pitt’s Ishmael Leggett was picked as the Sixth Man of the Year.

UNC had a player on each of the three All-ACC teams. Center Armando Bacot was the top vote-getter on the second team, and freshman wing Harrison Ingram was voted to the third team.

N.C. State’s lone All-ACC representative was guard DJ Horne, who received the most votes on the third team.

Duke’s Jeremy Roach made the second-place Blue Devils join their rival as the only team with multiple players on the lists. There were 12 schools representing the 15 players selected.

The ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament begins Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
