Unattended candles start blaze in York County townhome

PENN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WHTM) — Heavy smoke could be seen billowing from a townhome in Penn Township, York County Saturday morning as crews responded to a fire.
According to the Hanover Area Fire & Rescue, the fire was located on the 400 block of Springbrook Court. Crews say they were called to the scene shortly before 9 a.m.
Officials say flames could be seen coming from the back of the two-story middle-of-the-row townhouse.
One person was rescued from a neighboring unit. No one was hurt.
The fire has been ruled an accident, and according to Hanover Area Fire & Rescue Chief Tony Clousher, it was caused by unattended candles that were left in a bedroom.
