UL Lafayette professor identified as victim in triple homicide

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — One of the three victims in the triple homicide scene discovered by Lafayette police is identified as Dr. Eric Green who was a psychology professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

As a tenured professor here at U.L. Lafayette, Green’s students shared their thoughts and memories of him as an inspiration to everyone he taught and mentored during his time here. Joy Martin, a student and former assistant of Green, shared his experiences with the professor.

“He taught me so many things about, how to talk to these kids, how to work with their parents, and how to help them overcome things like their struggles and whatnot, what they were dealing with,” said Martin.

On the evening of April 12, Lafayette authorities responded to a welfare concern in the 700 block of S. College Rd. As officers arrived at the home to find the person of concern, Green’s body and the bodies of 45-year-old Brandon Touchet and 46-year-old Elizabeth Reames were discovered.

Police say the three victims and the suspect 42-year-old Chad Credeur of Duson were mutual friends. Along with being a professor, Green was a published author and well-respected child therapist.

Mary Snelling was another student and former assistant of Green, says he left behind a great legacy as he made a big impact on the students and families he helped along the way.
