Ukrenergo implements blackouts in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast following Russian attack
Damage to power generation, transmission lines, and distribution facilities have resulted in blackouts across Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukrainian energy company DTEK warned on Telegram on March 22.
These blackouts were implemented on order of Ukraine's national power operator, Ukrenergo, following a Russian mass missile strike that damaged critical energy infrastructure.
According to earlier reports, DTEK equipment at a number thermal power plants had been seriously damaged by the attack. Efforts to restore power and deal with the aftermath are ongoing.

The Russian military launched its most extensive attack of 2024 on Ukraine's energy system on the morning of March 22, targeting multiple oblasts with cruise and ballistic missiles, and drones.
Russia launched over 150 drones and missiles, including ballistic and cruise missiles. Air defense forces intercepted 92 of those targets.
Damage to infrastructure and energy facilities has been confirmed in Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhya, Kryvyi Rih, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv oblasts.
Russians launched 12 missile attacks on Zaporizhzhya. Early reports say that at least seven buildings were destroyed, and a further 35 were damaged.

Russian forces targeted Ukraine's largest hydroelectric power station — Dniprovska HPP in Zaporizhzhya — hitting a passenger trolleybus with people on board, Mariupol mayoral adviser Petro Andriushchenko reported previously. The strike caused a blaze to brake out, and traffic on the dam was blocked.
Russia hit critical infrastructure objects in Kryvyi Rih, and the city has implemented rolling blackouts to compensate for the loss in power generation.
Blackouts have also been introduced in Donetsk, and Odesa oblasts.
