Ukrainian top general and NATO Commander strategize urgent frontline needs

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi engaged in a telephone conversation with NATO European Commander Christopher Cavoli, discussing the urgent needs of Ukraine on the frontline, announcing on Facebook on April 18.

Syrskyi briefed Cavoli on the developments on the frontline and Ukraine’s requirements, particularly emphasizing the need for modern air defense systems, artillery, ammunition, and heavy armored vehicles.

The military officials discussed bolstering military-technical cooperation with the United States and other allies, strengthening Ukrainian air defense capabilities, and replenishing ammunition supplies.

The commanders exchanged views on the battlefield situation.

“I expressed gratitude to the United States and NATO partners for their support of Ukraine, especially in areas currently crucial for enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities,” Syrskyi said.

“The conversation, as always, took place in a friendly, constructive atmosphere.”

The situation on the Eastern front has significantly worsened in recent days, the Commander-in-Chief said on April 13.

Russia’s top military leadership has ordered its soldiers to capture Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast by May 9, Syrskyi said on April 14.

Russia is concentrating efforts to breach Ukrainian defenses near Bakhmut and advance towards the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas canal. The ultimate aim is to capture Chasiv Yar and pave the way for further incursions into the Kramatorsk agglomeration.
