Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Hakeem Jeffries, the leader of the Democratic Party in the U.S. House of Representatives, who now leads the minority, Zelenskyy announced on April 28.

“I thanked him for his personal role in adoption of $61 billion aid to Ukraine bill by Congress,” Zelenskyy wrote about the conversation.

“He noted bipartisan support for our country in Congress and leadership of President Biden.”

Zelenskyy also invited the U.S. official to Ukraine.

In addition, Zelenskyy told the Democratic leader about urgent need to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense with Patriot systems to protect Ukrainian cities and communities, economy, and critical infrastructure from Russian missile and drone terror.

Lower house of U.S. Congress, House of Representatives, voted in favor of a bill providing more than $60 billion in support for Ukraine on April 20 after months of debates.

The bill was approved by U.S. Senate, and then signed by President Joe Biden on April 24, shortly after U.S. sent to Ukraine the first part of this aid worth $1 billion.
