Ukrainian air defence downs Russian attack drones in 5 oblasts, but there are strikes

Ukraine’s Air Force shot down 17 Russian Shahed attack drones in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyi and Zhytomyr oblasts on the night of 7-8 April, with the debris of the downed drones causing damage in Odesa and Mykolaiv oblasts.

Quote from Ukraine’s Air Force: "On the night of 7-8 April, the enemy launched a Kh-59 missile from the airspace of the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast and 24 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs from Cape Chauda in Crimea and Russia’s Kursk and Yeysk districts.

As a result of the air defence response, the Ukrainian Defence Forces shot down one Kh-59 missile in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and 17 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyi and Zhytomyr oblasts."

Details: Fighter aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups and electronic warfare equipment were involved in repelling the air attack.

Four drones were destroyed in Odesa Oblast. However, there was also one strike in Odesa Oblast, and a logistics and transport facility was damaged. The debris of the downed Shahed drone also damaged a petrol station. No one was injured.

Two UAVs were shot down in Mykolaiv Oblast. The debris of the downed Shahed drone damaged power transmission lines in Voznesensk district, which resulted in a complete power outage in 14 settlements and a partial power outage in another settlement. Work is currently underway to restore the power supply. There were no casualties.

Another Shahed drone was shot down in Kirovohrad Oblast. There were no casualties or damage.

Earlier, the General Staff reported that on the night of 7-8 April, Ukrainian air defence forces had destroyed 17 of the 24 Russian attack drones that the Russians had launched over Ukraine.
