Ukraine’s SBU Security Service and the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) conducted searches at the residence of Dmytro Bulakh, head of the Kharkiv Anti-Corruption Center, Ukrainian news outlet Hromadske reported on April 11, citing the SBI.

The searches carried out on April 10 were authorized by a court order, the center said on Facebook. Bulakh, currently serving in the National Guard, was requested to provide documents related to his military service while being at home.

"Not at the military unit's command, but at home," the center said.

"We perceive this as a continuation of the pressure campaign on Ukraine's civil sector."

Bulakh was served a summons by the SBU in the summer of 2022, accompanied by employees from the Strategic Investigations Department. Bulakh stated that he noticed being followed. He observed being followed and, upon recovery from illness, got himself conscripted in February 2023.

Bulakh clarified on Facebook that he did not receive "combat" payments and lacked an SBU ID "to avoid unnecessary questions."

"In the fall of 2023, Dmytro Bulakh noticed being followed," the center said.

"About a dozen different cars with operational license plates were 'tailing' at various addresses where he appeared. Who authorized this surveillance of the serviceman Bulakh for several months? Are we making a copy of Russia in Ukraine now?"

The SBI, in a statement to Ukrainska Pravda (UP), disclosed that, based on materials provided by the SBU, they initiated a criminal case regarding potential enlistment abuses. The investigation focuses on possible "authority overreach by the command of one of a National Guard units stationed in Kharkiv Oblast."
