Ukraine's SBU security service reported the arrest of a Russian agent in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, who was spying on Ukrainian military aircraft, on Telegram on April 2.

The SBU announced the suspect's apprehension earlier this year, revealing that five other Russian agents had been detained in Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk oblasts at the same time.

Among them were an engineer from a defense plant and a municipal official in Donetsk, who were tracking the Ukrainian Armed Forces' geolocations in the front-line territories.

The Russian agent in Kryvyi Rih attempted to identify military airfields and Ukrainian air defense positions near the city while monitoring the flight paths of Ukrainian combat aviation, the SBU said.

If targets were identified, she was supposed to mark their geolocations on electronic maps and send "reports" to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

These data were intended to be used by Russian forces to prepare air strikes on "targets" using missile weaponry and drones.

The suspect was a local resident and an ideological supporter of Russian fascism, the investigation revealed. She came to the attention of the Russian FSB in October 2023 through her friend, currently in custody.

To monitor combat aviation and air defense systems, the woman ventured into the countryside and attempted to identify and covertly document military infrastructure.

She communicated with an FSB employee via app messenger. The SBU has already established the identity of this individual.

During searches at the suspect's residence, her mobile phone with evidence of her correspondence with the FSB employee was seized.

SBU investigators informed her of suspicion of state treason committed under wartime conditions (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The detainee is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment.
