Ukraine's president party on course to win majority in new parliament

KIEV, July 22 (Reuters) - Ukraine's presidential party Servant of the People was on course to win a parliamentary majority at 0615 GMT when more than 40 percent of votes had been counted, according to data from the election commission.

The party was in the lead in around 120 out of 199 constituencies in Ukraine, the data showed. It also won a majority on the party lists with 42% of votes, according to preliminary results.

Ukraine has a mixed election system, where half the parliamentary seats are determined by votes on party lists and the rest are first-past-the-post constituencies races.
