Ukraine’s SBU uncovers 11 Russian spy networks since beggining of the year – SBU chief

Since the beginning of 2024, Ukraine’s SBU Security Service exposed 11 Russian agent networks, said SBU head Vasyl Malyuk at the Congress of Local and Regional Councils in Chernivtsi on April 13.

The SBU has been successful in working proactively against Russian intelligence.

“First of all, due to systematic and new counterintelligence approaches, we do not detain a single traitor, but unwind the entire chain,” Malyuk said.

“In total, in 2023, SBU exposed 47 agent networks, and all the traitors were detained...”

This proactive approach helps prevent Russian infiltration of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure and cyberspace.

SBU also thwarted attempts by enemy to discover routes of international aid and locations of Ukraine’s defense enterprises.

Recently, they arrested a Russian FSB agent in Dnipro who was filming a local thermal power plant.

Additionally, SBU uncovered several employees of Ukrzaliznytsia who were passing on information about movement of weapons and munitions to Russian intelligence.

Since the beginning of 2024, SBU initiated numerous criminal proceedings, resulting in convictions for offenses such as high treason, collaboration, aiding the aggressor state, and passing information about the Armed Forces to enemy.
