Ukraine repels massive Russian attack, destroys 43 aerial targets - Air Force

Russia launched a barrage of 29 cruise missiles and 28 Shahed drones at Ukraine overnight, with the air defense forces successfully neutralizing 43 aerial threats, Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk's reported on Telegram on March 24.

The Russian military attacked Ukraine with:

  • 29 cruise missiles X-101/X-555 from 14 Tu-95MS strategic aircraft (launched from Engels in Russia);

  • 28 Shahed strike UAVs (launch areas Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, and Cape Chauda in occupied Crimea).

The Air Force's anti-aircraft missile units and fighter aviation, mobile firing groups, as well as electronic warfare equipment were involved in repelling the attack.

43 air targets were destroyed as a result of combat work: 18 X-101/X-555 cruise missiles and 25 Shahed-136/131 attack drones.

The missiles and drones were shot down within Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kyiv, Volyn, and Lviv oblasts.

Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones overnight. In particular, explosions were heard in the Kharkiv and Mykolaiv oblasts. Air defenses operated in Kyiv and Lviv oblasts.

In Kyiv's Desnyanskyi district, missile debris fell on a tree plantation, and in Shevchenkivskyi district on a park area, as well as on residential building property.

Russian missiles and Shaheds also attacked a critical infrastructure facility in Lviv Oblast.
