Ukraine mandates fair power outage schedules — PM Shmyhal

Ukraine's Energy Ministry and power grid operator Ukrenergo will develop a draft resolution on fair electricity outage schedules, Ukraine's Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said, Ukrinform reported on May 22.

"It is essential that the outage schedules for consumers are rational, fair, and evenly distributed," Shmyhal said.
The document should also include a list of critical facilities that require a priority power supply and the order of distribution of limited capacity among other consumers, he said. The state continues to provide critical infrastructure with alternative generation means.
Since May 14, consumers faced scheduled blackouts across the country, as Ukraine’s generation capacity and EU imports are not enough to cover the demand, after several months of Russian air strikes on critical infrastructure.
Ukrenergo said on May 16 that Ukraine's electricity supply may improve next week, but power outages will become unavoidable in summer and fall.

DTEK reported on May 17 that stabilization shutdowns of electricity consumers would resume that evening under Ukrenergo's direction.
However, DTEK said that no electricity restriction schedules would be applied to domestic users on May 18.
