Ukraine launched its largest attack since the start of the full-scale war, firing at least five Storm Shadow and Scalp missiles at targets in Russian-occupied Sevastopol on March 24. The strike surpassed even the attack on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet last September, Bild reported on March 25.

Preliminary reports suggest that at least two missiles struck huge satellite antennas, radar systems, and administrative buildings of the Russians. Only one missile, presumably, was intercepted.

American military expert Tyler Rogoway said after analyzing satellite photos that large landing ships Yamal and Azov, though hit, likely did not sustain serious damage, Bild said.

Strikes on the Yamal, Azov landing ships, and the communication hub of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol - what’s known

Explosions were reported in Russian-occupied Sevastopol on the night of March 23-24. OSINT (open-source intelligence analysts) analysts wrote about Storm Shadow missile strikes on a major communication hub of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. There were also online reports of drone strikes hitting an oil depot near the settlement of Hvardiyske.

Ukrainian forces struck the Russian navy ships Yamal and Azov, the fleet's communication center, and other infrastructure in occupied Sevastopol, the UAF StratCom confirmed on Telegram on March 24.

Dmytro Pletenchuk, a Ukrainian Navy representative, confirmed that Ukraine fired upon Russian ships, noting it would be a major blow if the landing vessels Yamal and Azov were seriously damaged. This would leave Russia with just three of the 13 landing ships they had before invading Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Satellite photos have also surfaced online, clearly showing damage to the building that presumably houses the Russian Black Sea Fleet's communication hub.

In addition to the Yamal and Azov landing ships, the reconnaissance ship Ivan Khurs was also damaged during the attack. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense confirmed only the damage to the Yamal ship, which was under repair at the Southern Fleet's shipyard, saying that the damage was critical, the Astra Telegram channel reported on March 25.
