The Ukrainian government has allocated an additional UAH 8 billion ($202 million) to the construction of battlefield fortifications, Ukrainian PM Denys Shmyhal announced on April 23.

He said that the funds were made available through a revision of other state budget expenditures.

Shmyhal notes that, since the beginning of the year, the government has directed approximately UAH 38 billion ($961 million) to the construction of defensive lines.

"We do not intend to stop there; our task is to create a robust defensive barrier that will protect our soldiers and provide our army with an advantage on the battlefield," the PM added.
