Ukraine's SBU Security Service's Sea Baby marine drones have been equipped with Grad multiple rocket launcher systems, NV sources inside the SBU reported on May 22.

The modified Sea Babies struck Russian positions on the Kinburn spit on the night of May 21.

"Today, we can confirm that the drones are equipped with a rocket launcher system, and this technological solution is already showing powerful results," the SBU source told NV.

"Therefore, new surprises are waiting for the enemy."

Modernization of Sea Baby drones

The Sea Baby marine drone is capable not only of carrying explosives, but also of firing, SBU head, Vasyl Malyuk, said in January.

Ukraine had modernized its marine drones and made them "more lethal," the SBU said in March.

Now the Sea Baby can deliver an explosive charge weighing 850 kg, SBU General Ivan Lukashevich said.

Ukraine launched an initiative to raise funds for dozens of additional Sea Babies for the SBU at the beginning of the year.

Ukrainians collected 297,500,000 hryvnias ($7.474 million) for 35 Sea Baby drones in just two days, Ukraine’s Digital Transformation Minister, Mykhailo Fedorov, said.
