Ukraine downs 9 of 10 Russian kamikaze drones overnight, explosions heard in Dnipro

Russia launched 10 Shahed kamikaze drones at Ukraine overnight on April 2, with Ukrainian forces intercepting all but one of them, Air Force commander Mykola Oleshchuk, reported on Telegram.

Russians launched the Shahed drones from Cape Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea, he said.

The Russian military also attacked Ukraine with a guided X-59 missile from the airspace above temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

Ukrainian defense forces destroyed the nine drones above Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

The air defense system was operational in Dnipro, as well as in the Dniprovsky, Nikopol, Pavlohrad, Synelnykove, and Kamianske districts, Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration head, Serhiy Lysak, reported.

Two fires broke out in Dnipro due to falling drone debris, which were promptly extinguished. A two-story building and a fire station were damaged.
