The command post was coordinating an attempted counteroffensive by Rosgvardia units in the area, according to Humeniuk.

She noted that Ukrainian strikes like this one are effective in degrading enemy morale.
“Such ‘decapitation’ of enemy command structure naturally disorients their ranks,” said Humeniuk.

“Our advances (in the area) will be more effective now.”
Humeniuk added that Ukrainian troops continue to inch forward in southern Ukraine, although their accomplishments are reported with a significant delay – once it’s clear they won’t be reversed by enemy counterattacks.

The fighting in southern Ukraine is predominantly shaped by artillery duels, according to Humeniuk: long-range weapons and potential air strikes render any attempts to engage in infantry firefights risky and largely pointless.
