Ukraine destroys 15 tanks, inflicts heavy losses on Russian forces: Updated casualty figures

The Russian army lost an additional 860 soldiers on April 4, pushing the total casualties from the onset of the full-scale invasion to over 445,000 soldiers killed and wounded, the Ukrainian General Staff reported on Facebook on April 5.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of April 4, the losses of the Russian army amounted:

  • personnel - about 445,900 (+860) people,

  • tanks - 7,033 (+15) units

  • armored combat vehicles - 13,459 (+73) units,

  • artillery systems - 11221 (+50) units,

  • MLRS - 1029 (+3) units,

  • air defense systems - 747 (+1) units

  • aircraft - 347 (+0) units

  • helicopters - 325 (+0) units,

  • UAVs of operational and tactical level - 8847 (+30),

  • cruise missiles - 2059 (+0),

  • ships/boats - 26 (+0) units

  • submarines - 1 (+0) units,

  • motor vehicles and tank trucks - 14922 (+61) units

  • special equipment - 1849 (+4).

Spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy Kovalev, explained that total losses of occupiers, published by the General Staff, consist of two main indicators of losses suffered by the enemy in the course of hostilities on Feb. 27. These losses include irrecoverable losses and combat sanitary losses of the enemy.

Prior to that, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian losses amounted to 180.000 killed and up to 500.000 wounded.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on March 14 said that, according to Western intelligence services, Russian losses since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine exceeded 350.000 people.
